These Terms & Conditions govern your use of The Found Dial website and purchases from The Found Dial LLC. By placing an order, you agree to these terms together with any product-specific disclosures, the Returns Policy and the Privacy Policy.

The Found Dial specializes in vintage, antique and pre-owned watches. Many have lived long lives before reaching us, and some may be more than 100 years old. Their histories of wear, service, repair and ownership are not always fully knowable. Our goal is to research, photograph and describe each watch as honestly and accurately as reasonably possible so you can make an informed decision before purchasing.

All prices are listed in U.S. dollars. Purchases are completed through The Found Dial website using payment methods supported by the site’s payment processor.

The Found Dial does not generally negotiate pricing unless a product page expressly states otherwise. Private off-site offers and payment arrangements are not accepted.

Prices may change at any time before checkout is completed. Obvious pricing, typographical or technical errors do not require The Found Dial to complete a transaction at an incorrect price. Applicable sales tax is collected where required.

Every watch offered by The Found Dial is vintage or pre-owned unless clearly stated otherwise. Age-related wear, patina, scratches, discoloration, prior service, replacement parts and other imperfections may be present.

Every watch on The Found Dial is photographed by The Found Dial, and every product photograph shows the actual watch being sold. We do not use stock photographs, representative watches or filler imagery in place of the watch you are purchasing.

Photographed purely and sold honestly. We make a deliberate effort to show wear, patina, marks and imperfections rather than conceal them. Product photographs form part of the condition record for the watch.

Photographs and written descriptions cannot reasonably answer every possible question about a vintage watch. Lighting, viewing angle, magnification, screen differences and photography equipment may affect how certain details appear. If a particular mark, component, measurement, feature or condition issue is important to your decision, please contact The Found Dial before purchasing.

The Found Dial is not an authorized service center, dealer, representative or affiliate of any watch manufacturer unless specifically stated otherwise.

We make reasonable efforts to describe servicing, repairs, adjustments, cleaning, regulation and component replacement performed while a watch is in our possession. The scope of work varies by watch.

Terms such as “serviced,” “repaired,” “regulated” or “cleaned” should be understood according to the specific work described in the applicable listing. If you need more detail about what was or was not done to a particular watch, please ask before purchasing.

A vintage watch may retain some level of water resistance, but The Found Dial does not have the equipment required to accurately certify or guarantee it.

Unless a product listing expressly states otherwise, every watch purchased from The Found Dial should be treated as not water resistant. Original factory ratings should not be assumed to remain valid decades later.

The Found Dial is not responsible for moisture or water damage occurring after delivery, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

The Found Dial currently ships only within the United States. Orders are shipped using tracked delivery services and are fully insured for their shipment value.

The Found Dial remains responsible for the shipment until delivery is completed according to the carrier’s tracking information, subject to applicable carrier and insurance procedures. Orders valued over $1,000 require a signature at delivery. A signature or additional verification may also be required for lower-value orders when appropriate.

A billing address and shipping address do not necessarily have to match. However, The Found Dial may verify shipping information, request additional identity or payment verification, require shipment to an address verified through the payment processor, decline an alternate shipping address, delay shipment while reasonable fraud verification is completed or cancel and refund an order when shipping, payment, identity or insurance concerns cannot reasonably be resolved.

If a shipment is returned because of an incorrect address supplied by the customer, refused delivery, failure to accept or sign for delivery, repeated failed delivery attempts or another circumstance caused by the recipient, The Found Dial may deduct reasonable carrier return charges, shipping costs, insurance costs and reshipping expenses from any applicable refund or require those costs to be paid before reshipment.

For standard purchases, a return request must be submitted within 7 calendar days of delivery. Eligible holiday purchases made between November 15 and December 25 may be returned through January 5. If a purchase was identified as a gift at checkout and a gift date was recorded with the order, a return request may be submitted within 7 calendar days after the recorded gift date. A gift date cannot be added after purchase for the purpose of extending the return window.

Once a return is authorized, the watch must be shipped within 5 calendar days using tracked and fully insured shipping. Return shipping and insurance are the customer’s responsibility unless the return results from an error by The Found Dial. Original shipping charges are non-refundable unless The Found Dial made the error.

A returned watch must come back in materially the same condition in which it was sold. The Found Dial may compare the returned watch with the permanent photographic record from the original listing. Watches or products specifically identified as final sale or non-returnable on the product page are not eligible for return except where required by law.

If you believe there is a problem with an order, we strongly encourage you to contact The Found Dial first and allow a reasonable opportunity to investigate and resolve the issue directly.

Nothing in these Terms removes any chargeback, statutory or consumer-protection right that cannot legally be waived. The Found Dial may provide payment processors, banks, insurers or carriers with relevant transaction records, shipping documentation, communications, photographs and product descriptions when responding to a payment dispute.

Unless otherwise stated, the original photographs, written descriptions, Reference Room articles, branding, graphics and other original content on this website are owned by The Found Dial LLC and may not be copied, reproduced, republished or used commercially without permission.

The Found Dial photography may be shared on social media for noncommercial purposes when reasonable credit is given to The Found Dial and, where practical, a link is provided back to thefounddial.com. This does not grant permission to use our photographs to advertise, represent or sell another watch or product.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, The Found Dial’s aggregate liability arising from a particular purchase will not exceed the amount actually paid to The Found Dial for that product.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Found Dial will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary or consequential damages arising from the purchase, possession, use, inability to use or subsequent resale of a watch.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, consumer rights or remedies where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by law.

The Found Dial may update these Terms & Conditions as the business, website or policies evolve. Changes apply prospectively from the date the updated Terms are posted unless otherwise required by law. The Terms in effect when an order is placed will generally govern that transaction.

These terms are meant to put the practical rules in the same place as the philosophy behind the watches: describe what is known, photograph what is actually being sold, preserve what matters and avoid promising what a vintage watch cannot honestly promise.
